The 8th MAHEPA Consortium meeting was organised by the Politecnico di Milano on 13 October 2020. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, only three of the consortium partners were able to come to Milan, the others joined through a conference call. The meeting was still as successful as ever.
The partners discussed the progress of the project and the impact COVID -19 has on their work. Although some things are progressing rather slowly, it is expected that the aircraft will fly very soon and almost without any delays. In about three weeks, the most powerful hydrogen aircraft to date will take it’s maiden flight.
Most events in 2020 have either been cancelled or held online. The MAHEPA consortium has adapted to the new reality and will now organise the expected MAHEPA Autumn school online. The consortium is committed to offer the best possible lectures and also a special surprise for the students. One of the main objectives of the MAHEPA project will be achieved at the Autumn school – the provision of new knowledge and information for future generations, which will hopefully stimulate additional research for further development of hybrid-electric aircraft.
The final MAHEPA event, the conference, where the grand unveiling of the project achievements, major challenges and research in hybrid electric technology will take place, is still scheduled for AERO 2021. Either way, it will be an event not to be missed.
