Project partners from Politecnico di Milano are hosting a MAHEPA dissemination day event, together with the static display of the world’s first electric aircraft type-certified ever Pipistrel’s Velis Electro. The event will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at La Masa Campus (buildings BL27 and BL28).
The MAHEPA (Modular Approach to Hybrid-Electric Propulsion Architecture) is a vast effort in the development and demonstration of new concepts and equipment in hybrid-electric propulsion, including aircraft design and technology scalability studies and future scenario studies.
The two aircraft being developed within this project are close to their maiden flight:
- The hydrogen-driven Hy4 first flight is expected in a few days, on October 19, 2020.
- The serial hybrid-electric Panthera Hybrid shall fly in January 2021.
The daily program includes two seminars on the MAHEPA activities in classrooms at BL28, plus another seminar on the type certification of the Pipistrel Velis Electro, the first electric airplane ever certified by a regulating authority in the world.
In addition to the talks, attendees have the chance to visit two exhibitions:
- A MAHEPA stand in the BL27 ground-floor main corridor.
- The exhibit of the Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft, also at the BL27.
The event is open to Politecnico di Milano students, faculty and staff (by principle first come, first served. Only 90 seats are available for the seminars, so be sure to register on time.
